Regatta Status: ❌
+ Update #1 | Dec 5th
Both lake Storsjön and lake Malmjärn are frozen since a couple of days.
Because they were hit by some snow (which now has melt away) the growth has been restrained with the race areas on both lakes at just 3 cm thickness this afternoon.
The weather forecast predicts a couple of degrees above zero for the next couple of days, but with 11 days still to go a lot can happen.
Final call will probably be next Wednesday or Thursday, so stay tuned!
+ Update #2 | Dec 12th
The last couple of days haven't really made the ice situation better in any conspicuous way. Our best options might now be the smaller lakes north of Stockholm i.e. lake Fysingen. We will be on standby and have a final call no later than Thursday 13:00.
+ Update #3 [Regatta Cancelled] | Dec 15th
Unfortunately we haven't found a suitible venue for the ranking regattas this weekend. Many rumours and unconfirmed reports of possible spots around the country but not a lot of first party observations.
Therefore we've decided to cancel this event. Next event will be held in early January, hope to see you then!
Torsåkers Isseglarsällskap (Torsåker Ice Sailing Club) is located in the small village of Torsåker. The club, founded in 1994 is primarily devoted to DN sailing but also some Ice Optimist and Kitewing sailing.
Home venues are lake Malmjärn and lake Storsjön, a great place to host regattas of all sizes. The club is also the home of the legendary "Cruisingsektionen".
