Regatta Status: ✅
+ Update #1 | Jan 26th
Next regatta weekend is approaching quickly, this time organized by Stockholms Isjaktklubb supported by the Uppsala IceOpti fleet.
The ice situation in Stockholm is complicated and as of now it doesn't look like it will improve much the week leading up to the event.
So we will probably need to look north for a better venue. Sandviken and Hudiksvall have good conditions and Uppsala might also be a good option.
We are as always depending on a steady stream of new ice reports to make this event happen, all ice scouting is greatly appreciated. Please post your reports in the Facebook group or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you!
+ Update #2 | Jan 30th
If current weather forecasts are somewhat accurate we will be racing this weekend! There are a couple of good venue options, all with their own pros and cons. Though it's leaning towards Västerås (once again) where the ice has been fantastic for weeks.
We plan to announce the final decision on Wednesday.
+ Update #3 | Feb 1st
It's on! The regattas will be held on lake Mälaren in Västerås and launching site will be at Västerås Kanotförening (Björnövägen 79, Västerås).
We have magnificent ice conditions with no observed cracks or dangers in the planned race area and the weather seems to be cooporating once again (though we wish for the wind forecast to improve slightly for Saturday).
This event is as previously mentioned co-organized with the IceOptimists, sailing every other race on the same course. The details will be explained during skippers meeting.
There are lots of accomodation options in Västerås but we haven't yet decided where the race committee will stay. New update tomorrow.
See you soon!

+ Update #5 | Feb 3rd
Right-of-way rule test
As part of the registration all sailors need to pass a simple right-of-way rule test. To save some time we urge you to do this in advance via the IDNIYRA-EU website. When you’ve completed the test, download your certificate (or grab a screenshot from the result page) and be ready to show it at the registration desk in the launching area.
The sailing instructions will be orally explained during the skippers meeting. This includes detailed schedule, ice report, course description etc.
To make it easier for our friends and fans (mostly friends…😝) to follow the event we would like you to use the hashtag #dnsweden in your social media posts from this event.
We will also report via our Instagram Story, so make sure to follow @dnsweden!
See you all tomorrow!
Stockholms Isjaktklubb (Stockholm Ice Yacht Club) founded in 1901 is one of the oldest ice yacht clubs in the world. Today the club continues to be active and embrace the sport of ice sailing in Stockholm.
It is the home of many historical ice yachts of all sizes which members bring to the ice every winter. "Nora", the biggest ice yacht in Sweden can carry 8 people and weighs more than a 1 000 kg.
In competitive sailing it's all about the DN and Monotype XV. Home venue is 'Stora Värtan' in the inner Stockholm archipelago 10 km north of central Stockholm.
