❄️ Welcome to a New Season with Swedish Ice Sailing! ⛵
Dear ice sailors, members and enthusiasts, the season has had a warm start but soon the cold will be here, and with it, we hope, the first safe ice! The whole of DN Sweden would like to warmly welcome you all to what we hope will be a fantastically exciting and fast-paced season.
We look forward to feeling the adrenaline again when the rails cut through the blank ice and the DN yachts fly forward. We have an ambitious season ahead of us, and the board is working hard to give our sailors the best possible conditions.
📅 Highlights of the Competition Calendar
Although ice sailing as usual requires flexibility and a constant check on the weather forecast, we have set the fixed framework for the national competitions:
National Ranking Competitions: We are planning for three ranking weekends between December and February. Exact locations will be announced at short notice based on the best conditions, but the focus will be on the Mälardalen/Vänern area.
Swedish Championships (SM): Dates are set for March 14-15 (week 11). The goal is to find a large, safe ice surface where we can organize a memorable championship. This is the most important national competition of the season! We will also have two reserve weekends if any of the competitions cannot be held on the planned date.
Keep an eye on our official Facebook page and website for ongoing ice reports and competition information.
The first weekend is only a few weeks away, December 27-28, the perfect opportunity to get back in shape after Christmas and get out and have a fantastic experience on the ice! Registration and information for all weekends during the season can be found via the following link: https://manage2sail.com/sv-se/search?filterYear=&filterMonth=&filterCountry=SWE&filterClass=&filterClubId=c4431601-f8e8-4de6-9dc2-fbe83637ac90&filterScoring=&paged=true&filterText=&page=2
🌍 International Championships – Swedish Hope on the World Stage
Swedish ice sailing has a strong tradition, and we have several skaters who are aiming high this winter. The international championships are the absolute highlight of the year:
The World and European Championships (World and European Championships): Organized by the Polish fleet in February (V.8). Our Swedish elite sailors will compete for the coveted gold medal, likely on one of the great ice rinks in Europe
We wish our national team the best of luck in the fight against the international elite!
The juniors have two championships planned for the season, the first is the championship that was moved last season and will now be sailed December 18-21. The date for the 2026 championship has not yet been published.
🛠️ Focus on Development: Coat and Speed Suit
The board is aware of the importance of both representation and maximum performance. Therefore, we have initiated a project to develop new, modern equipment for our competitors:
A new representative Coat: We are developing a warm, uniform and stylish coat to represent Sweden at international championships, inaugurations and award ceremonies.
A technical Speed Suit: In collaboration with a well-known manufacturer in alpine skiing, we are working on developing a new competition suit optimized for speed. This is especially important to give our riders a competitive advantage at high speeds. As well as the honor of carrying DN Sweden to international success.
Details and design sketches will be presented as soon as we have the finished prototypes. The goal is for them to be ready for this year's international championships.
We hope for cold nights, safe ice and many wonderful hours out on the lake. Let's together make sure this is a record-breaking season for Swedish ice sailing!
With frozen greetings,
The Board, DN Sweden
